Travel by Trinidad Nears One Year, What a Family-Run Travel Agency Learned in Year One
Travel by Trinidad is a family-run travel agency in West Orange, New Jersey that specializes in cruises, Disney vacations, all-inclusive resorts, honeymoons, and group travel. As we get closer to our one-year mark, I have been thinking a lot about how much can change in a short amount of time.
When I launched this agency in 2025, the goal was simple. I wanted to build the kind of travel business I would want to work with myself. Not a call center. Not a generic booking site. Not a business that disappears after taking a deposit.
I wanted Travel by Trinidad to feel personal, knowledgeable, and genuinely useful.

That part has not changed.
What has changed is the scale of what we now help clients with, the kinds of trips we plan every week, and the systems we have built behind the scenes to make the experience smoother for everyone who trusts us with their vacation.
If you are wondering what a modern travel advisor actually does, this first year has made the answer clearer for me. A good travel advisor helps you narrow options, avoid avoidable mistakes, organize the moving parts of a trip, and stay calm when plans change.
Travel by Trinidad at a Glance
If you are new here, here is the short version of what Travel by Trinidad is about:
- a family-run travel agency based in West Orange, New Jersey
- concierge-style vacation planning for cruises, Disney, all-inclusive resorts, honeymoons, and group trips
- experience-backed guidance shaped by more than 250 nights at sea
- a planning style focused on clarity, honesty, and reducing travel friction
That summary may be short, but it captures what I wanted this business to become.
Why I Started Travel by Trinidad
At the heart of this business is something pretty straightforward. I love travel, and I love helping people do it better.
That sounds simple, but there is a huge gap between booking a trip and planning one well.
Anyone can click around online and reserve a cruise, a hotel, or a flight. The harder part is knowing which ship actually fits your style. Which all-inclusive resort will feel worth the money. Which itinerary works for a family with different ages, different budgets, and different expectations. Which honeymoon destination feels romantic in real life, not just in photos.
That is the gap I wanted this agency to fill.
Travel by Trinidad was built around real guidance, not just transactions. We help clients sort through options, avoid expensive mistakes, and book trips that actually match what they want their vacation to feel like.
Experience Matters More Than Brochures
One of the things that shaped this business from day one is the fact that I do not sell travel from a distance. I sell travel from experience.
We have spent more than 250 nights at sea. We have stayed in different cabin categories, from standard balconies to Star Class suites. We have visited Disney parks multiple times. We have firsthand experience across the Caribbean, Europe, all-inclusive resorts, and family travel.
That matters because brochures are designed to make everything sound perfect.
Real travel advice is different.
Real travel advice says:
- this ship is beautiful, but it may feel too crowded for the kind of trip you want
- this resort photographs well, but another one is a better fit for your budget and priorities
- this itinerary looks amazing on paper, but the pacing is too aggressive for a family traveling with kids
- this upgrade is worth the money, and this other one absolutely is not
That practical honesty has become one of the biggest reasons clients come back to us.
What the First Year Has Taught Me
If there is one big lesson from this first year, it is this: people are not just looking for someone to book travel. They are looking for clarity.
They want someone to help them narrow down options.
They want someone to explain the tradeoffs.
They want someone to tell them what is worth splurging on and what can be skipped.
They want someone available when something changes, when a question comes up, or when the internet has given them ten conflicting answers.
That has reinforced something I believed early on. Good travel advising is not about adding pressure. It is about reducing friction.
The best compliment we get is not just “we had a great trip.”
It is “this felt easy.”
That is the standard I want the business to keep meeting as we grow.
The Kind of Trips Travel by Trinidad Loves Planning
Over this first year, a few core specialties have become even clearer.
Cruises continue to be a huge part of what we do. That includes first-time cruisers who need help choosing the right line, families comparing Royal Caribbean ships, couples looking at Virgin Voyages, and clients trying to figure out whether a suite is worth it.
All-inclusive resorts have become another major category, especially for couples, honeymoons, and travelers who want a beautiful trip without overcomplicating the planning.
Disney vacations remain a category where experience makes a real difference. Disney can be magical, but it can also be overwhelming if you do not plan it well.
Group travel has also become a bigger part of the business. Group trips can be incredible, but they also come with more moving parts, more opinions, and more chances for confusion. Helping a group stay organized and aligned is one of the most valuable things a travel advisor can do.
You can explore more about the kinds of trips we plan on our services page, our cruise partners page, our travel resources page, and our about page.
Building More Than an Agency
One of the most interesting parts of this first year has been realizing that great service is not just about answering emails faster. It is also about building better tools.
That is a big part of why we built the Travel by Trinidad app.
The agency came first. The app came later as an extension of the same philosophy.
We kept seeing the same problem over and over. Clients had confirmations scattered across inboxes, screenshots, notes apps, and group chats. The trip was booked, but the information was fragmented.
So we built something better.
The app is not separate from the business. It is a reflection of how we think travel planning should work. Organized. Accessible. Useful in the moments when travelers actually need it. If you want the full app story, the original Travel by Trinidad app launch post explains why we built it.
That has become one of the clearest themes of this first year: good service and good systems belong together.

What I Am Most Proud Of
I am proud of the trips we have helped plan, of course. But that is not the whole answer.
What I am most proud of is the trust.
Every time someone asks us to help with a honeymoon, a family vacation, a milestone birthday, a group cruise, or a long-awaited bucket-list trip, they are trusting us with time, money, and memories they cannot get back.
That is not something I take lightly.
I am also proud that we have built this as a family-run business without losing the personal side of what makes it work. Even as the systems get stronger and the tools get better, I still want clients to feel like they are talking to someone who actually knows their trip, remembers what matters to them, and cares whether the experience goes well.
Where Travel by Trinidad Is Going Next
As we move toward year two, the goal is not to become louder. It is to become better.
That means:
- continuing to sharpen our cruise, Disney, all-inclusive, and group travel expertise
- creating more helpful educational content on the blog for travelers who want better guidance
- improving the app so it becomes even more useful before, during, and after a trip
- making the client experience feel smoother from the first conversation to the day they get home
I also want Travel by Trinidad to keep growing in a way that feels aligned with how it started. Personal. High-touch. Experience-backed. Honest about what is worth booking and what is not.
That is the lane.
Thank You for Being Part of the First Year
If you have booked with us, referred someone to us, read the blog, followed along on social, or simply trusted our advice at some point over this first year, thank you.
Travel businesses are built on relationships. Every inquiry, every booking, every recommendation, and every returning client has helped shape what Travel by Trinidad is becoming.
We are still early. That part is exciting.
We are approaching one year with a clearer identity, stronger systems, and a much better understanding of how we can serve travelers well.
And we are just getting started.
If you are planning a cruise, resort stay, honeymoon, Disney trip, or group getaway, you can get in touch here. We would love to help you plan it well.
